Cardiff council's draft budget: Axe to fall on services, staff and grants

Flat Holm Island will be sold, the Cardiff Big Weekend music festival will stop and funding for the much-loved Cardiff Riding School will be axed under sweeping cuts unveiled by Cardiff council.


But the biggest pain is most likely to be felt by external organisations – including many charities – with council grants to be cut by £550,000.

This includes the Chapter arts centre in Canton (£10,000 grant reduction), Race Equality First (£36,000), Menter Caerdydd (£30,000), Diverse Cymru (£13,500) and Families Need Fathers/Both Parents Matter (£100,000).
