The aim of all of our programmes is to contribute to working with others to make equality real for people in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Our programmes also contribute to ensuring:

The importance of communication, contexts and relationships are reflected in the whole of our programme approach

Conversations for Change
Something needs to happen..change needs to occur..we bring people together round a table..they have conversations..issues are raised..ideas are shared..commitments are made..change begins to happen

Casework and Policy Development
People have complaints..theyve been on the end of racial discrimination or harassment..we listen to them..they need advice..sometimes were their last resort.. theyre not sure what their rights are..we call it casework..policy development makes sure that learning and change happens
I have been racially discriminated against/racially harassed what can I do?

Capacity Building in Context
Working with organisations or teams to make equality real..they know what the law says about discrimination..they want to make equality and diversity real but arent sure how tothey dont want off the shelf solutions..and we dont offer them ..we want to work to understand their culture, challenges, opportunities, dilemmas..to develop shared solutions based on their realities..we offer coaching..ideas..policy development..consultancy...training..impact assessment..but never off the shelf one size for all solutions

Community Outreach and Partnerships
There are lots of communities and groups out there..a kaleidoscope of cultures, languages, foods, music..weve almost got our own United Nations of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan..communities and individuals with ambitions, dreams, challenges, discouragements, skills, needs..citizens who contribute positively, as well as citizens who feel they dont really belong..diverse people whose voices need to be listened to and heard so that understanding and inclusion can be experienced..we want to contribute to the listening..to facilitate the understanding..to contribute to building the partnerships..this will be at the core of all we do

Critical Friendship
So, what is a critical friend..someone said.. its someone who asks provocative questions and who provides a different lens through which to see things..someone else said..its someone who assumes you are smart, competent and have done your best, and within that context, they help you to be even better..its how we aim to work with organisations who want to make equality real

Communication, Information Sharing, Research and Creating Awareness of Good Practice
Our purpose is to make equality real..its what were about..its our core businessits our job to contribute explore ideas, intelligence, information, and research that could help you to contribute to equality in your context..let us know what your issues and challenges are..and well explore the solutions with you

Conflict Resolution
It can really get in the way..conflict that is..it divides organisations, communities, individuals..it wastes resources..disables the possibility of partnership working..conflict resolution has been described as finding common ground..conflict resolution is about speaking, listening, understanding, appreciating, and finding the ways through that work for the people in conflict.

Creative Arts for Integration
A mixed group of people..a graphic artist whos really good at what she does..a theme that interests you..an opportunity and a medium in which you can exploreshare stories without words..have fun..discover that everyone is an artist one way or the other..and that all of us are on the human journey

Campaigning and Advocacy
Some things are simply not ok..like global poverty..thats why the Make Poverty History campaign got going..sometimes at a local level its equally true..social justice, equality of opportunity, human rights are worth going out on a limb to achieve ... sometimes we may need to engage in popular campaigning..a citizens movement..using this as a means to influence for the changes that need to be made..so that equality becomes real
