Minority Ethnic Elders Advocacy Project

Project Outline:

The Minority Ethnic Elders Advocacy Project (MEEA) is an all Wales project funded by the Big Lottery fund for 3 years in partnership with 3 other regional equality councils. Race Equality First (REF) is the lead partner and the delivery of the project is in partnership with Swansea Bay Regional Equality Council (SBREC), South East Wales Regional Equality Council (SEWREC) and the North Wales Regional Equality Network (NWREN).

All Wales Hate Crime Research Project

Date: April 2010 - September 2013

Project Outline 

The All Wales Hate Crime Research Project is a Big Lottery funded research partnership between Race Equality FirstCardiff University and Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Equality and Human Rights Network.  This project has been funded for 3 years to study the nature and impact of hate crime in Wales.

Equality & Human Rights in the Community Project

Project Outline:  To work with individuals and communities to raise awareness of the Equality Act 2010 equipping individuals and communities with the tools to challenge discrimination and inequality.

Eastern European Roma Support Project

Date: Funding ended December 2011, volunteer run until 2012, Czech and Slovak Roma Advice ran from Jan 13 - March 13.

Venue: Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan

Project Outline:

Provision of language assistance and advice related to accessing a variety of local services including housing, health, English language and welfare for Eastern European Roma families.

Project Outline

Funded by ACW and the Millenium Stadium Charitable Trust, Race Equality First's 'Memorable Moments in our Lives: an artistic exploration of birth, marriage and death' aimed to improve art skills as well as promote community cohesion.

The project (funded by the European Social Fund) aimed to help improve the employment prospects of refugees and economic migrants in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
